In war as in life the difference between truth and deception is what a man allows himself to believe. |
| Synopsis |

Bill Paxton stars in "A Bright Shining Lie", an adaptation of Neil Sheehan's 1988 Pulitzer Price- winning book about one man's epic odyssey through the Vietnam War.
A firm believer in the need to defeat communist expansion in Asia, Paxton portrays Lieutenant John Paul Vann, One of the first U.S. military adviser sent to Vietnam. His involvement in the war spanned ten years, a period of time that included his resignation from the Army as well as his return to the center of the Vietnam conflict as a civilian appointee of President Nixon, advocating extensive bombing and full- scale invasions of Loas and North Vietnam.
A shattering examination of an extraodinary life, "A Bright Shining Lie" captures the intense drama, controversy, and struggle that define a critical period in history. |
